Welcome Message

Welcome to VolunteerYouthMinistry.com!

This blog is written by a youth ministry volunteer to be a source of inspiration, training and support for other youth ministry volunteers. To help you get what you’re looking for quickly, this blog is compartmentalized into the following sections listed under Categories on the left side of this page:

About the author: Posts specifically related to the author(s). Currently all of the posts are written by Dennis Beckner. However, posts from others are welcomed.

How To Last In Youth Ministry: These posts are all about how to stay fresh and persevere in youth ministry. When youth leaders commit to last, students have the consistent and trustworthy leaders they deserve.

Just for fun: This section is for fun stuff that doesn’t really fit into another category, but thought you’d like to see. This is a great place to kill time.

Lesson helpers: These are tools, tips, activities and suggestions that will be useful as you teach students.

Life lessons: These are real-life stories that have great potential for use in teaching or counseling. While you may not use these stories in your own ministry to students, they may help you think through how your own life stories can be used to illustrate biblical truths to your students

Ministry lessons: These are lessons learned through the course of doing hands-on ministry with students. There are many bumps, bruises, oops and even a few I-can’t-believe-that-worked experiences in this section

News: Items related to youth ministry

Spiritual health: These are for you, the volunteer. Leaders will not last or be as effective without staying on a path of spiritual growth. All of the posts in this section are there to either help you stay connected with God or deal with spiritual issues.

Trophy case: Every leader needs to keep a folder for thank you cards and atta boys. The posts in this blog are all about the thank you’s and warm fuzzies that have come through the course of ministry. These are what keep us going through the tough times.

Youth culture: Staying informed about what students are facing in their culture is incredibly helpful to know how to relate and minister to them. Posts in this section are all about today’s youth culture.
